It’s more than just play. The Recreation and Leisure Services program is committed to preparing you, to assume responsibility for the development, coordination, delivery and management of leisure services and programs within an organization and/or a community. As a member of a team you will develop leadership skills and encourage people of all ages from children to seniors to live a healthy, active lifestyle in private, public and non-profit organizations.
The Recreation and Leisure Services program at Algonquin College offers students a good foundation of skills that are applicable to their industry. Courses include topics such as communications, programming, Community Development, Recreation and Human Development, Therapeutic Recreation: Older Adults, and entrepreneurship, as well as transferable life skills such as ethics, leadership, organization, administrative and management skills.
