Student Experience

What to Expect

The Medical Device Reprocessing program will prepare graduates for a career in a healthcare setting. Upon completion of the program, students will demonstrate the ability to apply principles of infection control in the reprocessing of medical devices and instruments, operate and manage a variety of sterilizers and reprocessors to comply with quality assurance processes, and communicate effectively with co-workers in a professional manner.

This is a ministry-approved program that provides a more comprehensive education than the former part-time Sterile Supply Processing program. Students will become better prepared to obtain a career in medical device reprocessing through an education consisting of theory, lab practice, simulation and clinical experience, which are components not previously offered through the former part-time program. This is a unique program that provides students with a variety of learning methods from experienced instructors.

Work Integrated Learning

Students will be provided with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills related to reprocessing, and they will gain practical skills through both lab and clinical experience. The practical components of the program will allow for application of theory and provide students with on-the-job experience.

Infection control plays an integral role in the well-being of members within the community. A career in medical device reprocessing will allow graduates to aid in fulfilling this important role.
