Is this program for you?

If you have an interest in helping people find information, have the ability to adapt and work independently, possess good customer service skills, can pay attention to details, then this is the program for you.

What is the schedule like?

This is a full time program, and you will be in many courses per semester, plus have additional work to do outside of class time. Classes may start as early as 8 am and end as late as 10 pm.

What about French language courses?

We assess all students regardless of their proficiency in French and place students in the correct courses as appropriate. French is extremely important to this industry and students are encouraged to continue strengthening their French abilities.

Can you attend courses in the program on a part-time basis?

While we may occasionally make an exception for someone to attend a specific class on an individual basis, you must be a full-time student to attend the program.

How many people are accepted into the program each September?

We accept 40 students into the program each September.

What field placements are included in the program?

The L.I.T. program provides students with two three-week placements during the second year. We offer a wide range of placement choices. You will need to have a valid police record check for field work.

Will you need to purchase a laptop for this program?

If you already own a laptop you will not need to purchase another, and many of our courses are taught in a computer lab. If you don’t own a laptop you will need a basic computer and you can see guidelines on the Bring Your Own Device webpage

What kinds of jobs are available when you graduate?

Graduates of the program find employment in public and academic libraries, schools, governments libraries, archives and records and information management departments.
