College Initiative: On Campus Farm Store
Posted on Friday, August 1st, 2014
Fresh, locally-grown food can be found on the Algonquin College Woodroffe campus all summer long. The Horticulture Industries program runs its Horticulture Store every Tuesday and Friday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the summer months, except for a two-week period in July, as one set of students enrolled in the 2-year program (compressed into 16-months) transitions to another group of students.
The fresh-picked and organically-grown harvest changes week-by-week as vegetables and herbs come into season. Annual and perennial plants and shrubs from the nursery are also available for those interested in adding to their own gardens.
Visitors to the Horticulture Store can also enjoy a stroll through the College’s horticulture display gardens before or after filling their baskets with fresh, locally-grown produce and herbs.
When: May-October, Tuesdays and Fridays, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Where: Algonquin College Woodroffe campus, College Avenue, M Building parking lot
