College Initiative: Sustainability Week 2013
Posted on Friday, June 21st, 2013
A series of grass-roots, sustainability-related activities taking place during the week of April 8 – April 12, 2013 at the College’s Woodroffe campus.
From Monday, April 8 to Friday, April 12 all Algonquin College community members are invited to tap into many of the exciting things happening at the College around sustainability.
The grassroots initiative is sponsored by the Sustainable Algonquin Steering Committee (SASC). The week kicks off with project displays in the Student Commons from 9 am – 12 noon organized by and featuring students in the General Arts and Sciences ENV0007 Approaches to Sustainable Development program and their instructor, Jay Smith.
The end of the week is marked by Applied Research Day (Friday, April 12), where sustainability in the curriculum will shine through in a number of the projects being highlighted at this day’s event.
The week offers a variety of ways to get on board with sustainability as part of the Algonquin College culture – plan a coffee break on Monday morning in the Student Commons, lunch and learn events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – all hosted by Algonquin College faculty and staff eager to share the positive momentum on campus around sustainability and what it means for the College.
