It’s that time of year again, Mental Health Awareness Week! From January 22- January 26, Algonquin College encourages you to discuss mental health and wellness! Learn about resources and services available to support you and participate in several events to engage with your peers and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.
Learn more about the activities and events we will be hosting this week below.
Tuesday, January 23:
Find Your Inner Self with Mindfulness Hour (11am-12pm): Come by the Spiritual Centre to learn how to calm your mind and decrease stress with guided mindfulness sessions!
Paws 4 Stress (11am-12:30pm): Drop by the Corner Lounge to de-stress with some adorable dogs during Mental Health Awareness Week!
Adulting 101: Emotional Regulation (2pm-3pm): Having difficulties controlling your emotions? Come by the AC Hub to learn the best tips and tricks to master emotional regulation.
Wednesday, January 24:
Mental Health Coffee Break (11am-12pm): Enjoy free beverages and tasty pastries while learning about the various mental health and counselling resources we offer on campus.
A Conversation with Sam Demma (12pm-1:30pm): Join us in the Student Commons for a conversation that will help unpack heavy, negative beliefs and to re-pack confident, positive beliefs which allow you to live authentically, find intrinsic value and understand your mental health.
Thursday, January 25:
AC Purple Couch (10am-1pm): The AC Purple Couch promotes mental health awareness amongst students and presents valuable mental health resources to support students and foster success throughout their college experience. Take a seat on the couch and start the conversation.
