About Dr. Jennifer ThakeDr. Jennifer Thake

Registered Psychotherapist and Co-Founder of Juniper Counselling Centre, Dr. Jennifer Thake aims to help move clients from a place of stress, hurt and suffering to a place of increased self-awareness, self-compassion, and strength. She strongly believes that each client has the answers for a healthier, happier, and meaningful life within themselves. As a therapist, her role is to help you discover these “answers” and help you put them into place. She supports youth and adults who are experiencing various life stressors; persons with symptoms of anxiety or low mood and self-esteem; persons struggling with emotional regulation; and persons who wish to move from floundering in their lives to flourishing.

Dr. Thake is trained in a variety of effective counselling methods, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, and mindfulness and self-compassion therapy, as well as holding two master’s degrees (Master’s in Psychology, Carleton University, Master’s in Counselling, University of Ottawa), and a Ph. D. in Philosophy, specializing in Health and Medical Psychology (Carleton University).

When she is not running a business, supporting clients, or studying academia, Dr. Thake can be found leading students as a professor for the Faculty of Psychology at Carleton University.
