Rising Together: A Collaborative Approach to Mental Health and Substance Use

Nov 27, 2024 |11:00am-2:30pm

In honour of National Addictions Awareness Week, join the Umbrella Project in the AC Hub on November 27 from 11 am- 2:30 pm to hear from the Jordan Leigh Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to break the stigma around mental health and substance use! The foundation’s founder and director will be giving a presentation about the foundation’s work and how we can all contribute to breaking the stigma.

Then, we will all create Rise Up bags which will be given to the Shepherds of Good Hope so that they can be distributed to unhoused members of the community. Your donations of hygiene products and new/gently used mitts and hats are welcome! Please bring all your donations to the Student Health & Wellness Zone (3rd Floor, Student Commons) by November 27.

This event is open to current Algonquin College students and employees.

Brought to you by the Umbrella Project.

The Umbrella Project is focused on creating a safer space on campus to discuss the impact of alcohol and drugs. It focuses on helping students reduce problematic effects and provides training, workshops, awareness, and support services for students and employees.
