Printer Fleet Renewal Project

Algonquin College is replacing the majority of our existing printer fleet in hallways, classrooms, labs, and offices, with new Ricoh devices throughout our Campus locations. This website will be maintained during the project to keep the AC community informed of project details and relevant updates.

Project Background

During the Spring 2024 Term, the Print Services Team, alongside our ITS Department, and our new external printer fleet vendor (Ricoh), will collaborate to replace the majority of our existing Konica Minolta and Lexmark printers with new Ricoh devices. This is the result of a regularly recurring review and awarding of our printer services contract following the expiration of the previous contract. Ricoh provided the most competitive bid which allows us to replace our existing aged printers with new ones in areas that will be better aligned with the printing demand on our campuses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the College completing the printer fleet renewal project?

The Printer Fleet Renewal project is the result of a regularly recurring review and awarding of our printer services contract following the expiration of the previous contract. Ricoh provided the most competitive bid, which allows us to replace our existing aged printer fleet with new devices in areas that will be better aligned with the printing demand on our campuses and support financial sustainability.

When is this project taking place?

The Printer Fleet Renewal project will primarily take place during July and August, 2024, with ongoing support throughout the upcoming Academic Year.

What printers should I use during the installation phase?

Throughout the installation phase, users can print on any functional fleet printer, just as they have before. There should be no interruption to user experience.

Will printing prices increase because of this project?

No, this project has no impact on pricing.

Do users still need to be logged into AC Secure in order to print?

Yes, for mobile printing users will need to be logged into AC Secure. Those printing from a desktop device while on campus will use the local wired connection.

Aside from the time when a technician is removing an old printer, and replacing it with a new one, there will not be any printing disruption during the transition phase.

Do we still use FindMe Print and MobilityPrint?

FindMe Print and Mobility Print will be renamed AC Print. If you already have MobilityPrint installed on your device(s), no action is required, simply select “AC Print” during the printing process.

Who is leading this project?
