Social Space
The Robert C. Gillett Student Commons is the response to feedback from students calling for more student space at Algonquin College. The building was designed to enhance the student experience by providing more social space, a 700-seat auditorium for guest speakers and other presentations, space for clubs and communities on campus, and more. These peer-to-peer interactions are essential in the learning process and in creating a high-quality student experience.
We believe that a student who feels a strong connection to the College has a greater chance to successfully complete his or her program. Amenities like quiet study spaces, a new Mobile Learning Centre, the casual seating space located inside the atrium, and the outdoor green spaces connected to the Mamidosewin Centre’s ceremonial grove will build student engagement and increase a student’s likelihood for success.
We are committed to continuously review and improve services to meet the changing needs of our students. Greater space provides the College with greater opportunity to grow its services focused on student success.
