On September 26th Claude Cote, Team Canada’s Automotive Service Technician competitor will be on-campus training for the upcoming WorldSkills Competition occurring in London, England. For the past year, Martin Restoule, coordinator of a number of Algonquin Colleges’ Automotive Apprenticeship programs has been acting as the Canadian Expert for Automotive Service Technician competitor Claude Cote and will be accompanying Claude to the competition. “Claude is a great competitor and is very dedicated to his training. It’s been a lot of hard work participating in the many qualifying competitions up to this point. To finally be able to compete at this year’s WorldSkills Competition in London is the culmination of all his hard work,” stated Martin earlier this month.

Martin’s dedication to this competition is also very noteworthy, for the last 10 years he has acted as coach, judge and all-around cheer leader for the many Algonquin students that have participated in the Ontario Technological Skills Competition as well as at the National and WorldSkills Competitions.

Claude will spend his time at Algonquin College with Martin as well as doing alignment training with the College’s resident alignment expert, Professor Stan Wierzbowski. Elite BMW/Mini has agreed to provide a Mini Countryman car for Claude to train on for the day giving Claude access to one of the possible vehicles that he will be asked to work on while at the competition in England.

While Claude is not a graduate of Algonquin College we have had our share of competitors at previous WorldSkills Competitions most recently Scott Blair (Carpentry Competitor), Stacy Dubois (IT Office Software Competitor) and Nathan Banke (Automotive Service Technician).
