Launch your career as a commercial pilot.
The two-year General Arts and Science-Aviation Management Ontario College Diploma integrates the flight training required by Transport Canada with fundamental business courses applicable to the aviation industry providing you with the knowledge and skills to become a commercial pilot.
In partnership with the Ottawa Flying Club, Rockcliffe Flying Club, Cornwall Aviation and the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, you experience up to 200 hours of practical flight training as you build the foundational skills to pilot aircraft under the tutelage of industry-professional instructors. You develop practical skills such as:
- fuel handling
- preparing an aircraft for flight
- flight planning and execution
- aircraft (ground) handling
- cockpit resource management
- elementary aircraft maintenance
- general aviation flight dispatching
You also develop fundamental business and interpersonal skills in areas such as marketing, management, math, computer applications, and communications that are transferable to a variety of commercial operations.
Graduates are prepared to undertake the Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence testing and once licenced, may find employment with charter companies, regional carriers and private corporations and/or additional job opportunities with commercial aviation organizations. Graduates may also receive credit transfer towards related programs, should they choose to pursue additional academic credentials.
NOTE: Practical flight training is a non-funded activity that costs $80,000+ over the two years, and is subject to change without notice. Flight training fees are dependent upon the number of hours required to complete the flying and training requirements. These hours will vary according to the skill level of individual students.
Additional Info Re: Fees: Applicants who already posses a Transport Canada Private Pilot`s Licence (PPL) may receive credit transfer for PPL ground school and flight training courses.

Graduates who complete the Transport Canada (TC) licensing requirements are eligible to pursue careers as flight dispatchers or as pilots with charter service or regional carriers flying passenger and/or freight, single and/or multi-engine airplanes. Present and long-term pilot and general aviation employment prospects are excellent as many commercial aviation operations are experiencing a labour shortage.

- Flying Costs: $80,000 plus tax for two years are paid on a pay-as-you-go basis, directly to the flight school.
- Exam Costs: $2,000.

Admissions Requirements
All applicants must satisfy both College Eligibility and Program Eligibility requirements.
College Eligibility
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR
- Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR
- General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR
- Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee will be charged.
Program Eligibility
- English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or equivalent).
- Mathematics, Grade 12 (MAP4C with a grade of 60% or higher) or Grade 11 (MCF3M with a grade of 50% or higher) or equivalent.
- Applicants with international transcripts must provide proof of the subject-specific requirements noted above and may be required to provide proof of language proficiency. Domestic applicants with international transcripts must be evaluated through the International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS) or World Education Services (WES).
- IELTS-International English Language Testing Service (Academic) Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band; OR TOEFL-Internet-based (iBT) Overall 80, with a minimum of 20 in each component: Reading 20; Listening 20; Speaking 20; Writing 20; OR Duolingo English Test (DET) Overall 110, minimum of 110 in Literacy and no score below 95.

NOTE: Students are REQUIRED to successfully complete a Category 1 Aviation Medical Exam prior to the start of the first term of this program.
Some classes are scheduled off campus at the Ottawa Flying Club, Rockcliffe Flying Club, Cornwall Aviation, and/or the Canada Aviation and Space Museum locations. Students are responsible for their own transportation and any associated cost.
Student commitment: Acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of this program demands a serious effort and focus by students.
