Certification-based learning
The Computer Systems Technician/Computer Systems Technician – Networking program at Algonquin College is based upon the topics found in related certification programs, including, Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Network+, Linux+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). In addition, students develop their communications skills, customer support/interpersonal skills, ethics for the IT workplace, workplace health and safety knowledge, and technical report-writing skills.

Gain practical experience
Students who maintain a College-prescribed academic standing and who possess the appropriate level of business communications skills can take part in a cooperative placement at the end of Level 03. Students participate in two back-to-back 15-week paid work terms before returning for their final level.
Graduates meet current industry needs
This program has a strong Program Advisory Council, made up of several representatives from industry, designed to assist the college in guiding the program direction and content, and ensuring that the graduates meet the needs and requirements of the local workforce.
