BACKGROUND
The Truck and Coach Technician Apprenticeship program at Algonquin College Ottawa, Canada consists of three 8-week levels, in which students study trade practices and auxiliary systems, engine systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, vehicle electronic management and emissions systems, drive trains and steering, suspension, and brake systems. Starting on March 5th, Algonquin College will be offering a tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship Truck and Coach Technician program to help start the training process for 20 new Truck and Coach Technicians. The 24-week program will allow students to develop technical skills and a fundamental understanding of work flow in a truck/coach maintenance and repair facility comparable to that of an apprentice who has worked in a shop prior to attending level one of in-school training. Space is still available for this unique training opportunity. More information about this program can be found here
