Use of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs)
The use of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) is strictly regulated by Transport Canada to ensure safety. One key requirement of Transport Canada is to carry a minimum of $ 100,000 in liability insurance for the flight of a UAV. Currently this insurance is specialized and Algonquin College is not insured for the use of UAVs on College property for personal, or business purposes. The use of UAVs by third parties is also not insured. For these reasons, UAVs are not permitted to be used on or in relation to College properties.
If you need to operate UAVs on Algonquin College property or in relation to College business, please contact the Risk Manager. It will be necessary to evaluate the requirements of the request, secure insurance and ensure appropriate contractual and regulatory compliance measures are taken.
This document is produced by Transport Canada to outline the associated regulations.
