0300X Interactive Media Management Portfolio Requirements
1.0 Ontario College Graduate Certificate Portfolio Package Overview
1.1 Welcome
This page outlines the portfolio package requirements for the Interactive Media Management post-graduate studies program (0300x). The provision of your IMM Portfolio Package will also help assess your communication and organizational skills and how well you read, assess and apply basic instructions.
To be successful in the IMM program, you must be experienced with your chosen computer operating system and various software packages beyond Microsoft Office. You are also responsible for the upkeep of your computer, file management, connecting to Wi-Fi networks, software installation, and maintenance.
Applying to and attending a higher educational institution is an important stage in a person’s future career. Entrance into the IMM program is based on first come, accepted. Any delays within the remainder of this process may delay your portfolio assessment and acceptance into the IMM program. Read all instructions carefully. Do not skim.
Algonquin College will only review complete transcripts or portfolio packages received at the college level. All portfolio submissions must include an official Algonquin College student number. Expedited requests will not be honoured. General inquiries may be sent to the program coordinator at faberd@algonquincollege.com. However, detailed guidance through the portfolio package is unavailable.
1.2 Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the IMM program are as follows.
-
- An Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, University Degree, or equivalent in any field.
- Experience with Windows, Mac or Linux OS, and various software applications.
- All applicants must complete and submit an Interactive Media Management Portfolio Package.
- Applicants with partial post-secondary education (minimum two years in good academic standing) and at least three (3) years of industry-related computer digital work experience must submit a detailed résumé along with the Interactive Media Management Portfolio Package.
2.0 Requirements
2.1 Letter of Intent
You must write and supply a separate 250-word minimum formal document of intent outlining your vested interest in the IMM program. Your letter should be about you and include a summary of your educational or professional background, complete computer software experience, and why you chose the Interactive Media Management post-graduate studies program. Letters in email format or resumés will be rejected. Any letters that contain plagiarized or artificial intelligence-written content will void your portfolio submission.
2.2 Portfolio Requirements
You are to supply six (6) original computer-based digital portfolio pieces, demonstrating experience with at least four (4) different desktop computer software applications. Each piece must be original and not duplicated.
You are to supply all associated work files. Mobile phones, tablets, online applications, social media, online posts, or mobile applications (apps) are unacceptable.
You must also provide a portfolio summary document that outlines the category, piece title, date completed, software used, and a description of your involvement in each piece. Below is only a sample list of computer-based digital products; however, you may supply any digitally-based original pieces.
3.0 Summary
3.1 Package Submission
You are to organize all material, which includes your letter of intent, portfolio summary document, final portfolio pieces and associated working files into a folder. Name your folder FirstnameLastname-StudentNumber. For videos, only supply the work files without support files. You must submit your package to the program coordinator by completing the form below.
You must upload and provide a link below to your complete portfolio using an online file transfer system such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Applications and portfolios will be evaluated on a first-submitted, first-assessed basis. Early completed IMM Portfolio Package submissions will ensure the best chance at securing a seat in the IMM program.
Important Information
All material must be original. Using artificial intelligent systems (AI), templates, tutorials, copyrighted or commercial material, writing agencies, or plagiarized content (5-word rule) will result in a declined application.
You may only submit a portfolio package once. Deviations from the required submission format listed above will result in a declined application. Declined portfolios or applications will not be re-reviewed, and you may reapply the following year. Technical or communications issues will not be accepted as an excuse. You are also responsible for communicating and transmitting in a timely fashion.
Your portfolio pieces must receive an “Approved“ result for more than the minimum 60% of all portfolio pieces (see rubric below). Your portfolio package submission must contain all requested material. An incomplete portfolio package submission will result in a declined application. All portfolio submissions will only be received via this online 0300X Interactive Media Management Portfolio Requirements portal. All other submission formats will be ignored.
