What is an RA?
An RA is a current student that lives in Residence who acts as a role model, mentor, resource and support to other students living in Residence. RAs help to build the amazing community that we call home at AC Residence. They do this by planning and facilitating educational and social events, as well as ensuring that residents feel safe, secure and supported during their time living in Residence. Planning/running events and building meaningful connections with other residents are the most important parts of the RA role.
What does an RA do?
RAs perform many different duties within the residence, including:
Programming: RAs plan and host educational and social events for their own and the wider residence community. Planning and running events is a major component of the RA role!
Student Engagement: RAs engage with their community on a regular basis formally and informally by spreading the word about events, referring residents to resources and building meaningful relationships.
Duty Shifts: During a duty shift, RAs complete walk-throughs of the building to help residents out, address any rule-breaking behaviours, and assist with sign-in and sign-out of guests/residents in the front lobby.
Yes! Resident Advisors live and learn in residence, this is important so they can provide effective peer mentorship and work duty shifts which take place in the evening/night.
All normal residence application processes and deadlines apply.
