Algonquin College Residence

Welcome to Algonquin College Residence!

We have a team of Algonquin College staff and students eagerly awaiting your arrival, ready to welcome you to your new home away from home.

We can’t wait to meet you!

Move In Instructions

STEP 1: Select Your Arrival Timeslot

Our Move-In takes place over Labor Day weekend,  from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 01, 2024

INTRUCTIONS:  Login to the Housing Portal, and click on ‘Appointments’ and select the desired date and time.

The move-in timeslots are designed to reduce congestion in elevators and corridors.  Once you check-in, you can take your time settling in. We appreciate your efforts in planning your arrival during your selected timeslot to promote a safe and efficient move-in.

Move-In Helpers: We encourage limiting move-in helpers to “needs-only”, to help reduce congestion in corridors, elevators, and stairwells.

Please note: once you move in, guests are not allowed in Residence until Tuesday, September 10. Family and friends should make hotel arrangements elsewhere if they require accommodation as they will be unable to stay in residence.

STEP 2: Submit Photo For Your AC Card + U-Pass

Your AC Card + U-Pass is your: room key, your meal plan, your laundry card, your bus pass, and more!

Steps to complete for your AC Card + U-Pass:

  • Submit your photo in the AC Photo portal once you have your network username and password which can be found in ACSIS.
  • Be sure to select “Residence” as pickup location while completing the steps.
  • Complete these steps before August 27 for your AC card to be waiting for you in your Residence move-in package.
  • Submissions after August 27 may mean that you will have to stand in line to collect your AC card.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about submitting your photo online, please contact Card Services.

STEP 3: Start Packing

You may want to get a sense of the space first and talk with your roommate before bringing or purchasing new items. Also note, both Thanksgiving and Fall Break are in October, which is a good opportunity to bring your cold weather/winter items.

Please Note: The Residence does not supply carts. If you require a cart for your move, please bring your own.

This includes tobacco, cannabis, and vape products.

Residence Community Living Standards

We rely on the guidelines held in the RCLS to map out standards and expectations for each member of the community to make this a healthy, safe, and successful Residence experience.

We encourage you to browse through the RCLS to learn more about how we all get along in Residence!

Residence Community Living Standards

Q: What are the Resident Community Living Standards?

The RCLS lists the guidelines expected of all residents, the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of residents, and the judicial procedures used when the guidelines aren’t met. Basically, the RCLS outline the rules that support the creation of a welcoming and safe community for everyone living here.

Q: What happens if someone doesn’t follow the RCLS?

Residence Life Staff will investigate the incident and make a decision on applying sanctions. Sanctions can range from a written warning to eviction and may include tasks to promote learning, community betterment, or fines. Any resident involved can share information they want to be included in the decision and appeal a decision if they don’t agree.

Parents, Guardians & Supporters

We know that your support will help your student to be successful here at Algonquin College. We know that you are a big part of the move-in process too, so we have put together some information with you in mind!

When can I move into Residence?

The earliest move-in day for Winter Term 2025 is January 04.

Can I move-in early or move-out late?

The Residence cannot accept early arrivals, please select a preferred move-in arrival time slot in your application by clicking on ‘appointments’ in the application menu.

Will move in carts be available for me to use on move in day?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide carts for everyone during move-in. If you need a cart, please bring one with you as we may not have carts available.

Will there be people to help me move in when I arrive?

To lessen congestion in Residence and lessen elevator wait times, we kindly ask you to limit the number of individuals helping you move-in. Remember, you could be moving in at the same time as your roommate…that’s a lot of people in a small space at once!

Once you arrive, you will be greeted by Residence staff members who will provide you with your move-in package which includes your room assignment and keys and the front desk is available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have.

What happens if I arrive later than the official move in day?

If you are unable to move in during the official move-in weekend, please email us at info@algonquinresidence.ca to let us know when you will be arriving so we can update your arrival date.

I require accessibility accommodations, and/or a personal support worker, how do I arrange?

If you have specific accommodation needs, please indicate that in your Residence application under “Special Considerations”.

Please contact Attendant Services Program (Carleton University) to make arrangements for PSW support.
