Want to test your R3 Project knowledge? Take our Admissions terminology quiz!

The entrance to the Admissions and Registration Office, with several large windows and a clear door providing a glimpse into the office.

If you’ve ever perused our R3 Project website, you may have stumbled upon the Glossary page, which includes all the R3 terms we’ve defined so far. As we prepare for the launch of the new Student Information System (SIS), Thesis Student Management (or Thesis SM for short), it’s important that our users understand the new and unique terminology that comes with it.

You may have also come across these new terms via New Term Tuesday or at our R3 Showcase events, so hopefully the terminology is somewhat familiar. And if you have been reading up on R3 lingo, now is your chance to test your skills!

Our first topic for this R3 Project Terminology Quiz series is Admissions. The rules are simple: guess the term for each definition listed below and select the card to find out the answer.

The Admissions Module is a main menu option within the Student Information System, Thesis SM. This module provides access to Admissions Status and Admission Time Periods. An image of a monitor with Admissions stage, Admission Status and Admissions time periods listed. Admissions Stage shows the specific status of the application. This feature is used to communicate with applicants in the Thesis Student Portal. An applicant can only be at one Admissions Stage at a time. Image has Admissions stages listed: Confirmed, confirmed conditional, partial deposit paid, partial deposit paid conditional, paid/deferred, and paid/deferred conditional. The Admissions Status shows the overall status of the applicant. It will only be visible in the Thesis SM system; not in the Thesis Student Portal. Each status is categorized and houses relevant Admissions Stages. The Admissions Status will mostly be used to generate reports. The status image is 'confirmed'. The Admission Stages are: confirmed, confirmed, conditional, partial deposit paid, partial deposit paid conditional, paid/deferred, and paid/deferred, conditional. The Thesis Student Portal Applicant Checklist is a feature that allows applicants to check the overall status of their application and individual status of each Admissions requirement. Admissions Record is created in Thesis SM after a prospective student submits their application either via Ontario Colleges or Salesforce. The Admissions Record houses all information required to process an application. This information can include the program, campus, delivery method, and much more. Admissions Component Glossary manages the receipt and processing of specific documents or requirements needed to assess an application. Examples include: English Grade 12, AC-HPAT, Admissions Portfolio, etc.
