The Thesis SM System
As part of the R3 Project, Algonquin College is set to launch a new Student Information System – Thesis SM, which will provide a modernized experience for our learners and employees.
What is a Student Information System?
A Student Information System (SIS) is the heart of Algonquin’s administrative systems, which manages key information such as: prospective students, applicants and current students, graduates, program and course offerings, student course registration, grades, and transcripts throughout the student life cycle.
Replacing Our Current SIS
The new system will replace the current Algonquin College homegrown GeneSIS system, which has been a part of the AC community for three decades.
GeneSIS truly “does” what it was built to do, and it has served the College well. But with the evolution of technology since its inception, AC now needs an SIS to do new things in order to better serve our diverse range of learners as well as our employees.
About Thesis SM
Algonquin College has acquired the services of Thesis, a company that specializes in providing new student information systems to colleges and universities.
The Thesis SM system is a cloud-based Software-As-A-Service (SAAS) program, making Algonquin College one of the first colleges in Ontario to move to a cloud-based SIS.

Needless to say, we’re pretty excited!
Once implemented, the new system will provide automation throughout the entire student lifecycle, including Admissions, Academics, and Financial Aid.
As the R3 Project team and Subject Matter Experts continue to get familiarized with what the Thesis SM system can do to meet the college needs, we’ll share these updates in our News section and at our Showcase Events.
