R3 Showcase: New Terms and Live Demo, February 2, 2022

With a promise to get a first view of Algonquin College’s new Student Information System, nearly 300 Algonquin College staff attended the R3 Showcase Event on Feb. 2, 2022.

R3 Project Sponsor and Vice-President of Student Services, Laura Stanbra, hosted the Showcase Event virtually, where she introduced a range of speakers.

Algonquin College President and CEO Claude Brulé welcomed the attendees and expressed his excitement for the project’s upcoming phases, as well as his reflections on the current GeneSIS system’s contributions to the College community – especially since he’s been working with the GeneSIS since 1999.

Following a Project update and review of the Implementation Committee’s and Change Champion Network’s roles, the event welcomed two Algonquin College Subject Matter Experts to the virtual podium.

Nancy Makila, Senior Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Academic, outlined new terms that will be used in the new Student Information System, ThesisSM.

R3 Project Business Systems Analyst, Sharon Rendle, then provided a live demo using the ThesisSM system. She showcased how to navigate through programs, courses as well as prerequisites and co-requisites.

Laura Stanbra then took questions from the event participants, with R3 panellists responding.

With Algonquin College moving toward the next Project phase – Design & Develop – the next R3 Showcase will provide a bird’s eye view of what to expect in the coming months.
