Here is the President’s message:

November 30, 2020

Dear College Community,

Following a rigorous selection process, I am pleased to announce that Algonquin College has selected Unit4 as its new Student Information System partner. Unit4 is an internationally recognized leader in next-generation enterprise solutions and their cloud applications will modernize our experience with our main system of record and support our efforts to provide personalized, flexible learning and student service delivery as well as a great employee experience by intelligently automating administrative tasks while providing easy access to the answers people need. For more information about Unit4 please visit: www.unit4.com and watch this video.

By selecting Unit4 as our new Student Information System partner, we are leading the way as the first college in Ontario to harness what 21st-century technology can provide by moving to a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service Student Information System, with an experienced, collaborative partner.

We embarked on the journey to select a new Student Information System because we recognized that our current, homegrown platform — which was cutting-edge when introduced over 26 years ago — was aging and could not support the increasing learner demand for flexible, personalized learning and self-service delivery. It has continued to support our learners to realize their hopes and dreams over several decades through the efforts of our dedicated employees, and now is the time for our Student Information System to evolve.

As a major initiative under Algonquin College’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) strategy in support of the College vision to be a ‘global leader in personalized, digitally connected, experiential learning’, this project’s other initiatives will provide a solid foundation for the new Student Information System. These include a new Identity and Access Management strategy, a data governance structure and thorough data quality review, and modernization of the underlying system architecture. Together, these project initiatives will help ensure our success as we transition from our legacy system of record to a modern system that supports our College vision.

This project is going to positively transform the way we work at the College, and while change can present some challenges, I give you my commitment to ensuring our transformation journey will be smoothed by a dedication to effective communications, engagement, and training.

Working together, with our new partner Unit4, and each of you, this project will enable personalized learning, delivering services to learners when and how they wish, and enhance the sustainability of our College.
