Speak Up!: Focus on Business Architecture, January 14, 2020
Jan 14, 2020
The R3 project is developing a business architecture to help steer the implementation of the new Student Information System. A business architecture is a full or ‘big picture’ view of an organization that can help to highlight opportunities for transformation and guide change. It focuses on understanding and documenting the outcomes an organization wants to achieve by asking three questions:
What is the organization trying to accomplish? Why is it trying to accomplish it? How is it accomplishing it?
In order to develop the Algonquin College business architecture, SIS Project business analysts have met with employees across the College to understand what they do and why. This information can point to process improvements and help determine how technology, such as the Student Information System, can best support the outcomes the College needs.
