Teaching for Sustainability
5.7 Ensuring that learning materials recognize principles of environmental sustainability
Professors can create appropriate teaching materials and resources that integrate sustainability concepts to use in their face-to-face, hybrid and online classes at Algonquin College. All Algonquin College employees can create an account with Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) to access a wealth of resources! Websites, Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF) and The Sustainability and Education Policy Network are additional resources. The Sustainable Algonquin website and the Sustainable Algonquin group on MyAC provides current information on sustainability in the Algonquin College context.

Introductory Sustainability Online Modules
All employees of Algonquin College, as well as all Algonquin College students have access to a simple tool to support a better understanding of this topic. Available as an online course, these learning modules can be completed in approximately one hour or less for each session. The Introduction to Sustainability, Part I guides learners through the basics of sustainability, introduces how the concept applies to the learning and working environment at Algonquin College, and sparks thinking on how the individual contributes to a Sustainable Algonquin and one’s role on a larger scale. The Introduction to Sustainability, Part II, offers new tools with a deeper dive using a sustainability lens to further investigate and integrate sustainability into your everyday life.
