The 2024-2025 Renewal Project
Be part of the next chapter for the Professor of the 21st Century!
The Professor of the 21st Century is Algonquin College’s teaching and learning competencies framework. This document consists of seven high-level outcomes and associated critical elements that outline the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values connected to a developmental journey for a faculty member. When the framework was first created 20 years ago, it was seen as a game-changer in the Ontario CAAT system, inspiring other colleges to create similar frameworks. It has since played a role in both the planning and delivery of professional development and in the assessment of teaching.
The framework is up for renewal in the 2024—2025 academic year, with potential updates to its content, language, and use. Learning and Teaching Services (LTS) is leading the renewal and invites all members of the college community to participate in this process by sharing their perspectives and ideas about the framework through one of three focus group formats:
- in-person,
- virtual – synchronous, or
- virtual – asynchronous.
If you’d like to provide feedback about your experiences with the framework and suggestions for its renewal, please identify the type of focus group session that you’d like to attend via this survey link.
