Lyn Whyte
Florist Program, School of Media and Design
Dean: Russ Mills
Lyn’s commitment to outstanding service begins every morning at 7 AM as she collects supplies for her classes that demonstrate the art of caring and respectful learning. Student success is a given in Lyn’s classes as she plants the seeds of learning and allows them to be nurtured with kindness and support for every student. They are consistently being referred to services and I know of three were directed to financial aid and received greatly needed grants. This support extends to part time faculty as well as advisory committee members.
Lyn’s service to the college community has been unfailing for well over 20 years. Lyn has come in during evenings and weekends above and beyond her duties to set up the beautiful art that continues to be the backdrop for celebrations and many touching moments we collectively share. Lyn does so with a smile, integrity and superlative work ethic. Remembrance Day, United Way events, Convocation are just some of the reasons to be thankful for Lyn’s consistent excellence and dedication.
When Lyn attended the faculty retreat she offered to conduct a workshop wherein participants created works of art and shared memories. Lyn offers her work to the faculty arts show. She brings her students to Toronto every year and the college is rewarded with the awards her students win. Lyn is an amazing artist, teacher and colleague. She is a perfect example of caring, learning, integrity and respect.
