Karen Charron
Student Support Services
Karen Charron is an exceptional candidate for the President’s Star Award because of the outstanding contribution she has made to coordinate the Student Support Services move to the new Student Commons building. The following areas were identified and are now located in the new Student Commons Building: Business Operations, Director’s Office, Centre for Students with Disabilities, Counselling Services, the Employment Support Centre, Student Affairs and Orientation, Peer Tutoring, and the Mamidosewin Centre.
Karen demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication throughout the planning and coordination of this move. She attended many pre-move meetings with outside vendors and various other departments within the college relating to the logistics of the move. She ensured good communication between all parties and established charts and timelines with key dates, guidelines and procedures for all groups to follow. She coordinated the overall move schedule and prepared staging areas for pick-up of boxes, moving labels, inventory sheets, as well as providing post-move support.
Karen is a team player with a very strong work ethic, working 60 plus work weeks for a period of 3 months leading up to the move on August 17th, as well as the month following the move.
I have had the pleasure of working with Karen since 2008 in various capacities and her commitment and enthusiasm to the college community is inspiring to us all!
