Joanne DelDuca
Advancement Department
Joanne is a dedicated member of the Algonquin College Community. She brings enthusiasm and energy to everything that she does and she is always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it’s assisting a colleague, collaborating with another department, or volunteering her time for an event which will highlight our College.
This past June, Algonquin Food Services hosted the annual Canadian College and University Food Service Association .The highlight of the week was the Chefs’ Competition held on Saturday, June 30, where Team Algonquin College, Team Chartwells (representing the University of Ottawa), and Team Queen’s University competed by creating three course meals representative of the conference theme “Savour Food, Celebrate Canada, Inspire Leadership.”
The event took place in the Marketplace and it was the opportunity to showcase our college to many of our colleagues from across the country. Right away planning was under way for the menu, logistics and above all the look for our booth. Team Algonquin won the gold medal and the People’s Choice Award – this was the first time in the competition’s history that one team won both awards.
Joanne was instrumental in helping with suggestions, contacts and even went out of her way to help us bring in the items necessary to bring the vision to life and create a booth which highlighted this year’s theme.
On Saturday, the day of the event, Joanne took time from her personal life to into the college and help out with last minute preparations and décor. She assisted in putting together a very cozy, classy, professional and above all a work friendly booth which was instrumental for team Algonquin to impress our friends from coast to coast.
Joanne should be recognized for all she has done not only for this event but for other events throughout the year.
