Jaynie Brown is a shining example of Algonquin’s Core values. As a Computer Coach working in the Mobile Learning Centre, Jaynie has exemplified Caring, Learning, Integrity and Respect daily through her words and actions with the students of Algonquin’s community. Jaynie’s warm smile and infectious spirit welcomes students and staff alike into the Mobile Learning Centre. However, it’s her dedication to “Learning” that stands out the most for those who are familiar with her style and work ethic. At every opportunity, even larger than computers, their programs, or technology in general, she looks for the opportunity to create a learning opportunity in every interaction she has with another person.

Jaynie often stays longer than expected at her post to assist a student in need and/or experiencing a computer program issue – usually in a panic, because their assignment is due within minutes. She has often provided a place to work in the Coaching Station for students desperately in need of a quite space to collect their thoughts or speak with a group member privately. She respects each individual and their knowledge and/or comfort level with using technology and computer programs, and gently guides these students into exploring the tools they have at their disposal to the maximum potential. She is a dedicated employee who perseveres through any challenge that she may encounter with passion and excitement in learning new ideas, concepts, or technology that she can pass on to the students she helps.

It is with pleasure that this recommendation for The President’s Star Award is submitted for your perusal. Jaynie is an employee who demonstrates a spirit and work ethic that others look up to – and she is deserving of recognition for this.
