General Arts and Science

Darlene Tierney Goebel is the shining star in the General Arts and Science department. Her door is always open, her smiling face greets you the minute you walk into her office, she is never too busy for anyone. Just the decorations in her office are enough to brighten anyone’s day.

Darlene welcomes students, takes the time to walk them to Counseling, Registrar or their classroom. Numerous times I have been walking with Darlene in the hall and she takes the time to help lost students locate their rooms without hesitation.

When Darlene walks down the hall I notice everyone knows her, greets her with a smile and a big “hello, how are you”, that tells you something about the open, friendly, caring, respectful nature she conveys.

Darlene is the key component in every GAS event. One example is the GAS Big Hit Student Bursary. Darlene works endless hours selling tickets, receiving and documenting donations for the silent auction, working on seating arrangements, decorations, all this to help raise money and awareness for student bursaries. I personally don’t know how she finds time in the day, while also balancing a busy family life.

Darlene is the shining star in GAS.
