Lyrette, a professor in the School of Business, received the tribute from President Claude Brulé on Wednesday.
Lyrette’s nomination lauds her efforts to manage academic matters and collaborate with her colleagues on program coordination matters such as work-integrated learning opportunities and finding part-time faculty.

Doreen Jans
Kina Simmonds
Acting Manager of Financial Services
The Acting Manager of Financial Services received the tribute from President Claude Brulé on Wednesday.
In the nomination form submitted by the Acting Manager of Business Operations for Student Support Services, Julia Huckle, and the department’s Budget Officers, Jans is praised for being an example of grace under pressure.
“With Q2 review and budget prep looming before us, anxiety and uncertainty were high due to new systems (Workday and Adaptive Insights) and new staff, training, direction and guidance through the processes and steps were needed. Doreen was at the helm!
“She actively participated in training sessions, produced training materials, set up drop-in sessions for questions and made sure that she was quick on her email and/or readily available to meet when needed. She did all of this with a smile on her face and friendly greetings for everyone even when she was hurrying through the halls to take care of not only this project, but all of her other responsibilities as well.
“With her knowledge, patience, guidance and coaching, we successfully navigated the new systems to complete our Q2 review. With her on our team, we can go into budget prep with more confidence. (We) can’t thank her enough.”
