Carmel Larkin
Applied Research & Innovation
I first interacted with Carmel when she coordinated my first interview to join Algonquin back in the summer of 2012. At the time I was truly impressed with the professionalism and caring she demonstrated for me as a potential future employee. The hiring process was interrupted then restarted and throughout a difficult situation she demonstrated the same welcoming and respectful manner. It was only later when I joined the College in November that I became aware that she was able to maintain this incredibly balanced demeanor under all conditions. The Applied Research office can be a busy and hectic place with outside clients, students, profs, and staff are looking to Carmel for some direction, guidance, paperwork, purchase order, etc. often all at the same time. The amazing thing is she deals with everyone in the same way with patience, caring and a smile, and she makes you feel as those you are her main focus. As the first face of the office to our outside clients, students, staff and faculty she is an Algonquin star, as anyone in the college that interacts with her would undoubtedly agree.
