Helena Ngou
Food & Beverage Operations
I would like to nominate Helena Ngou of the Food and Beverage operations for a President star award.
In her role as supervisor, one of her greatest strengths is leading a group of International and full time CSEP students on the Woodroffe campus.
Helena enjoys her long hours at work with her team and never shows weakness while catering 100 to 2,000 clients and staff.
Her CSEP students describe her as a person of fairness, and one who promotes a healthy working environment and cultural diversity.
Helena goes beyond her role of supervisor and trainer. Her leadership style helps students interact with clients to knock down barriers in communication which in turn helps them succeed in their academic studies. In her daily role, if Helena saw a student with a language barrier she would find tasks to unblock this barrier.
Helena also leads and supports student retention as she assist International students to transition to Canadian lifestyle.
She believes her reward is measured by training students to strive in the work force and make a huge impact one day in their lives when they leave Algonquin College. International students often comment they are made to feel welcome by Helena as she supports them like family.
I think Ms. Helena Ngou truly has deep human qualities towards students and respect and strives daily to enhance student success and retention as a team member.
