Uniforms & Equipment

Your first week in lab will include being measured/outfitted for Firefighter Protective Equipment and uniforms. The various vendors will be in attendance on September 7, 8 and 9. Algonquin College will provide a Firefighter bunker coat, pants and breathing apparatus that must all be returned. Students will be measured and required to purchase the remaining equipment which is yours to keep.

Please be aware that in an effort to keep your costs down, different vendors are used. The following is a list of the vendors and the items that must be purchased:

Please also note that students are responsible to ensure they have the funds available at the time of purchase. Payment to the vendors is required during the sizing the first week of class. This will eliminate delays in obtaining your equipment. NSF charges will be levied and there will be a delay in students receiving their purchased equipment. Shipping costs may also apply for late payments.

• 2 uniform shirts, with shoulder crests and embroidered name tag ($35.00 each)
• 2 pair cargo pants ($90.00 each)
• 1 black leather belt ($25.00 each)
• 3 t-shirts ($22.00 each)
• 1 ¼ zip sweat shirt ($80.00 each)
• 1 ball cap ($22.00 each)
• 1 tuque, ($22.00 each)

• 1 fire helmet with custom leather helmet shield ($394.69 each)
• 1 pair firefighting gloves ($144.25 pair)
• 1 pair rubber firefighting boots ($250.44 pair)

Students are required to provide the following, which can be purchased at most safety supply stores:

• a pair of black steel toe shoes/work boots
• safety glasses
• work gloves
• black socks to be worn with the uniform
