Students Show Continued Support for Local Causes

9 Run Run, Ottawa’s Emergency Services’ Run, is an annual community marathon that shows support for local emergency services and raises funds for Do it for Darren (DIFD), a foundation that encourages dialogue among youth about mental illness. Over the last 4 years alone, more than $100,000 has been raised through the event for DIFD.
AC students from Police Foundations, Fitness and Health Promotion and Pre-service Firefighter Education and Training have become the primary volunteer source for the event. This year was no exception as 70 students volunteered their time for a cause that’s become close to heart of the entire School of Health and Community Studies.
In addition to the general effort, pockets of students participated in the 10k run alongside their faculty while others held bake sales to raise an additional $895. “My favourite part about the 9 Run Run was being able to see the large amount of runners from various ages come out to help support mental health for the DIFD,” said Jessica Poole, one of the Police Foundations students who presented the cheque.
Amazing job as usual! Until next year!
