General Labourer

Job Description

As a General Construction Labourer, you will provide essential support to our construction crew by performing a variety of tasks to ensure that construction projects are completed efficiently and safely. This role involves physical labor, so a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction sites, including the removal of debris and hazardous materials.
  • Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment, including hand tools and power tools.
  • Carry out tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
  • Support skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, masons, electricians, roofers) with their duties as needed.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Perform general site maintenance and upkeep, including setting up and taking down scaffolding, and assisting with minor repairs.
  • Help with the assembly and disassembly of temporary structures, including forms and supports.
  • Report any safety hazards or issues to the site supervisor immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a construction or laborer role is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to the job site may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects.
  • Comfort working in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
