Employment help for job seekers
Employment Ontario provides a network of organizations throughout the province which provide employment assistance to individuals who are looking for work or re-training opportunities. Community Employment Services is a department of Algonquin College and is based in Perth. Individuals who are seeking assistance in finding work are welcome to use our service, regardless of where they live. However, there may be an Employment Ontario agency closer to home. Our staff will be happy to provide this information when contacted.
Community Employment Services is funded by the Government of Ontario and is open to people of all ages, regardless of their employment status and educational attainment.
Our full suite of free integrated employment services includes:
- Assistance with developing an action plan that will help you clarify your career and employment goals.
- Ongoing support as you pursue new opportunities.
- Help with building or updating your resume to make sure it captures your skills, attributes and experiences that will be attractive to a potential employer.
- Support in completing applications such as Better Jobs Ontario and college applications.
- Integrated Employment Services application that supports individuals who are out of school, out of work or working less than 20 hours per week.
- Access to our Employment Resource Centre where you can research jobs on our high- speed internet access.
- Assistance with building your resumes and writing great cover letters.
- Review our library of up-to-date resources on strategies for effective job searches and current labour market trends in our area.
- Helpful workshops and short training sessions that can help you gain confidence as you learn new skills that can give you the edge when applying for jobs or preparing for interviews.
- Apprenticeship signing bonus for qualified candidates who return to education to meet requirements and then successfully secure an apprenticeship training placement.
We invite you to visit Community Employment Services in person to register with us and start accessing our services right away. However, if you would like to start the process online, please fill in the application and fax, e-mail or bring it in. A staff member will then contact you by email or by phone to set up an appointment with you. At your first meeting, you will be officially registered with the Community Employment Services program.
