Job Description

Position Summary:
Reporting to the ES Lead Hand, the Utility Operator II is responsible for the operation, construction, and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater systems, and the road network in accordance with approved policies and procedures. The Utility Operator II will also provide backup to other Environmental Services functions, including the Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Facilities.

Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated competency with heavy construction equipment including, but not limited to, backhoes, front end loaders and sidewalk tractors.
2. Obtain OIT certification in Drinking Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection with the goal of obtaining Level #1 certification within 18 months of start date.
3. Grade 12 Diploma (minimum level of education required for position).
4. DZ license in good standing with the Ministry of the Transportation.
5. 1-2 years’ municipal or related experience.

This is a full-time union position, with 40 hours per week, on call, evening and weekend work. It comes with OMERS pension and medical/dental coverage. The base salary ranges from $30.46 to $35.52 per hour.
