Outdoor Adventure Application Process
Because our Outdoor Adventure program is so popular and attracts applicants from across North America, it’s important that you understand what you need to do to be accepted into this exciting adventure program. Below are the key steps you need to take to fully meet the admission requirements. Follow all the steps and we’ll see you at the next Program Readiness Camp where you will participate in some fun and exciting activities at Wilderness Tours Resort.
Step 1
- Meet College Eligibility requirements — Grade 12 diploma or Mature Applicant (19 years and over without a high school diploma. Must complete academic testing.)
- Meet Program Eligibility requirements (Grade 12 English, ENG4C and Math, MAP4c, or equivalent.)
- IELTS-International English Language Testing Service-Overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band or TOEFL-Internet-based (iBT)-overall 80, with the minimum of 20 in each component: Reading 20; Listening: 20 Speaking: 20, Writing: 20
Step 2
- Submission of Letter of Intent, Resume and two references
Step 3
Prior to commencement of the program, accepted applicants must:
- Participate in a mandatory Program Readiness Camp orientation weekend (several dates available, details in Applicant’s Handbook)
- Submission of Applicant Personal Information, Consent and Health Form, prior to attending mandatory Program Readiness Camp orientation weekend.
- Provide proof of current Standard First Aid certification.
- Sign and submit an Outdoor Adventure Program Assumption of Risk and Release Form.
- Those under the age of 18 must submit Parental Consent documentation.
- Obtain a passport valid for the duration of the program, prior to the commencement of Winter Term.
Applicants who have met Part I of the Eligibility and Selection process and have submitted the required Letters of Intent and Resume (Part II) will be accepted into the program. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of positions available, applicants will be assessed and ranked by a selection committee based on the Letters of Intent and Resume.
Those applicants successfully accepted into the program must plan to attend a mandatory Program Readiness Camp orientation weekend (Part III). Several dates are available over the spring and summer. Two weeks prior to your attendance at the orientation camp, a Personal Information, Consent and Health form, along with an Outdoor Adventure Program Assumption of Risk and Release form must be completed and submitted to the program coordinator.
Prior to the first day of class, the student must provide proof of current Standard First Aid and a signed release form. All of these details are outlined in the Applicant’s Handbook.
