Academic Upgrading
Academic Upgrading provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to improve their educational skills in order to take college programs or look for employment. The program is offered at Algonquin College’s Pembroke Campus and is free to Ontario residents. The program assists people who have been out of work, out of school for many years or those who have not completed high school.
Students can take individual courses or earn an Academic Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate, which is considered a high school equivalency by Ontario Colleges when assessing applications. People who are interested in taking college programs in health sciences, and who require science pre-requisite courses, can take Biology and Chemistry through the Academic Upgrading program.
The Academic Upgrading program offers courses in:
- English
- Math
- Computers
- Success Strategies
- Biology
- Chemistry
Please note: Course availability is subject to applicant demand and time of year.
