Job Description
Tuesdays & Thursday approximately 12-15 hours per week)
Under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent, the Sanitation Assistant visits numerous residential and commercial locations, on a bi-weekly basis to collect, transport and dispose of garbage in a safe, effective and environmentally friendly manner as well as ensuring recyclables such as glass, paper and plastic are correctly separated.
Qualifications:
Must be punctual, motivated, self-starter and able to work without supervision Good interpersonal skills to deal politely and effectively with the public.
Must have knowledge of Provincial requirements for Waste Disposal
Must be in good physical health to respond to the demands of the landfill site, with long periods of standing
Must be in good physical health to work on the back of the garbage truck and be able to get on and off the back of the truck and must be able to lift 50pounds and work in waste site environment (subject to heat, cold, dusty, conditions etc).
Compensation: Pay rate in accordance with CUPE Local 4524 Wage Scale. Completed job description available upon request.
