New Employee Orientation Program
Welcome and thank you for making Algonquin College your employer of choice! At Algonquin College, our core values of Caring, Learning, Integrity and Respect underpin all we do. In keeping with these values, we believe that a good start sets you up for success in your new role and provides you with an introduction to our organizational Culture and “how we do things”. We are committed to ensuring you have a smooth transition to life at Algonquin College by providing you with the necessary information, resources and tools to allow you to become successful.
In accordance with Algonquin College Policy HR10: New Employee Orientation, the New Employee Orientation Program ensures a welcome to new employees that is purposeful, caring, respectful, warm and engaging and provides new employees with the following 4-part experience:
PART 1 OF 4: College Orientation session (in-person) – As indicated in your HR Onboarding process, and as part of the New Employee Orientation Program, you are required to attend a College Orientation session (either in-person or virtually). These sessions are scheduled on the last Monday of the month, or as otherwise indicated. Please take a few moments to view the 2025 College Orientation Schedule (to hold the applicable session date/time in your calendar). Note: Employees can enroll in the Knowledge Centre for New Employees at any time – this is a just-in-time repository of general Algonquin College information and available resources and tools that is common to all College employees.
IMPORTANT
A week before the upcoming College Orientation in the month of your hire – the Session facilitator will contact you directly to invite you to your scheduled half day, morning College Orientation session. This invitation to participate and to request confirmation of attendance will be done via MS Outlook Calendar. At that time, the session Agenda (and Zoom link for those attending virtually) will also be provided. If you do not receive your invitation to participate or have any other queries, please contact employeelearning@algonquincollege.com.
Note: A Certificate of Completion will be issued after the Orientation session.
PART 2 OF 4: Access to the “Knowledge Centre for New Employees” – In addition to participation in the in-person College Orientation session, you will also be provided access to the “Knowledge Centre for New Employees“- a just-in-time repository of general Algonquin College information and available resources and tools that is common to all College employees.
PART 3 OF 4: The President’s “Meet & Greet” event – After the College Orientation session, you will receive a follow-up invitation from the College President to meet the President and Executive Team and to provide feedback on your employee orientation experience.
PART 4 OF 4: Participation in the New Employee Welcome Partner Initiative – This initiative connects new employees with experienced College employees. It aims to provide you with the necessary guidance and assistance to start a successful career at Algonquin College and serves to complement the College and Department Orientation sessions.
