Ivan Sicard is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Law and Security Administration Diploma Program and Occupational Health & Safety Certificate Program and is a Certified Business Continuity Professional with the Disaster Recovery Institute International. Sicard began his career as a Loss Prevention Officer with the Risk Management Division of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. In 1991, he joined the Protection Services Division of the National Museum of Science and Technology Corporation. Before joining the Department of Justice Canada in 2008, Sicard spent 12 years with Health Canada’s Safety, Security and Emergency Management Division, where he held key senior security positions, and in 2005 was appointed Executive Director and Departmental Security Officer. In his current role as Director General of the Corporate Services Branch and Chief Security Officer, he oversees all aspects of the accommodations, safety, security and emergency management functions, as well as corporate service functions for Executive Services and Sustainable Development. Sicard has been a member since its inception of the Bachelor of Public Safety and Emergency Management Program PAC. “Our PAC can play a tremendous role in advising the College and supporting students and faculty members on industry trends and best practices.”
