New students, AC Day 1 is your official welcome to the AC community! You do not want to miss out on your opportunity to connect with your classmates and professors, get the tech support you need, and learn about the academic resources available to you!

AC Day 1 programming is open to new students at the Ottawa Campus only. All classes for new students will be suspended on January 6 so that you can take part in Program Orientation and AC Day 1 programming. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 7. Please check your schedule on ACSIS for details.

What’s in store

Program Orientation: Level 1 learners at the Ottawa Campus, you will be contacted by your Program Coordinator via email with specific details about where your Program Orientation will be hosted closer to AC Day 1. If you have any questions, please contact your Program Coordinator.

Academic Support and Workshops: Stop by these booths and attend these workshops to get ready for the academic term ahead. You’ll leave AC Day 1 ready to succeed in your classes. See programming below:

8 am-4:30 pm • Welcome to Algonquin College Recording

During this short video played at Program Orientations, students will hear from President and CEO, Claude Brulé, and Students’ Association President, Maria Silveira, about getting set up for success at Algonquin College and how to navigate AC Day 1!

8 am-4:30 pm • Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid Resources

The Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid have put together some helpful “How To’s” to guide you through our most frequently asked questions. Before you call or email us, you can DIY your request. Learn how by clicking here.

The Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid will be operating virtually and in person at the Ottawa Campus, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Grab a complimentary hot cup of coffee and a pastry as you arrive on campus and head to your Program Orientation.*

Get on-the-spot tech support for connecting to the college’s Wifi, downloading software, accessing ACSIS and Brightspace, and more!

8 am-4 pm • Here2Help Booths

Have a question? Need directions? We’re Here2Help! On AC Day 1, stop by a Here2Help booth from 8 am to 4 pm for assistance with all your AC-related questions!

8:30 am-7 pm • AC Card and U-Pass Service Centre

On AC Day 1, the AC Card and U-Pass Service Centre will be bustling at the Marketplace Food Court, offering extended hours from 8:30 am to 7 pm. This Service Centre will cater to students who have already submitted their photo online (to acphoto.algonquincollege.com) and need to collect their AC Card + U-Pass. No appointment is necessary.

The Card Service Centre in the Marketplace Food Court will continue to operate during regular business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) on weekdays until January 17.

9 am-10 am • Getting Started with Brightspace and Zoom Workshop

In this workshop, get to know Brightspace, the online platform for your courses. You will learn how to access your course materials, submit assignments, take quizzes, see your grades, and more.
You will also learn about Zoom, including how to set up your Zoom account, adjust your account settings for security, schedule your own zoom meetings, and work with your classmates.

9 am-3:30 pm • International Education Centre Drop-In Booth

Hey, international students! Have questions about immigration matters, healthcare, employment, making friends, or events on campus? Don’t worry, we’ve got the answers! Drop by the International Education Centre drop-in booth to learn more about all of the resources available to students who are new to Canada.

Location: Student Commons (E Building) Entrance

10 am-10:30 am • Library Tour

This short walk through our beautiful library will introduce attendees to our onsite services and resources. Learn how easy it is to use our self-checkout kiosks to borrow books and how to borrow laptops from our new 24 hour laptop lockers.

Find out more about the Coaching and Peer Tutoring services and meet Page 1+. It’s a lot like Google, but instead of searching the web, it searches the library’s online and in-house collection!

10 am-2 pm • Print Services Drop-In Booth

Do you have questions about how to use the on-campus printers? Drop by the Print Services booth where an expert can instruct you on how to print on campus, show you the online printing processes, and answer any additional questions you may have.

10 am-2 pm • Course Materials Drop-In Booth

Drop by this booth to ask any questions you may have about your course materials and booklist, and check out Connections: The Campus Store while you’re there!
