Overview

In this College-approved Certificate program, learners explore innovative applications of educational technology that support two fundamental principles: technology should support learning and learning should be accessible. Learners practise integrating appropriate technology and new media into the teaching and learning process to generate engagement and interactivity. Using best pedagogical practices for creating collaborative, technology-based learning experiences, learners examine a variety of means to achieving the fundamental principles, including learning management systems, collaborative tools, open education resources (OER), adaptive learning technologies and social media.

This program is intended for educators, educational administrators, curriculum developers, corporate trainers and other professionals interested in broadening their use of technology in learning.

To qualify for this certificate, you must complete the program within two years.

Learning Outcomes

Graduation Fee:

Once you have completed all the courses in the program, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the Registrar's Office to obtain a certificate/diploma application. A graduation fee of $22 will be charged when the application is submitted. When your certificate/diploma application has been approved, you will be invited to Spring or Fall Convocation.

Admissions Requirements

All applicants must satisfy both College Eligibility and Program Eligibility requirements.

College Eligibility

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent; OR
  • Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without an OSSD).

Application Information

Registration Note:

There is no application process for this program. You can register for courses online by clicking on the course title, and selecting “Register Online”. The courses take place entirely online and do not require you to come to campus. Without a set class time you can complete your assignments when it’s most convenient for you while following the course deadlines. Different courses may be available each semester so don’t forget to check back regularly.

Program Resources

Available flexible scheduling options allow students the opportunity to complete the program within as little as two terms or as long as two years.

Prior Learning and Recognition (PLAR)

Students who wish to apply for PLAR need to demonstrate competency at a post-secondary level in all of the course learning requirements. Evidence of learning achievements for PLAR candidates may include a comprehensive challenge examination and/or completion of a portfolio.

AC Online Academic Planner

The Academic Planner provides registered part-time students in AC Online the ability to declare into a program of study. The Academic Planner outlines successfully completed courses to date, as well as courses that need to be completed in order to meet graduation requirements. It is therefore, essential that all part-time students in AC Online declare to their program of study, allowing administrators to plan course offerings. This tool is available on ACSIS.

Program Progression

As per Policy AA39: Program Progression and Graduation Requirements when students are admitted to a program, they are assigned to the Program of Study that aligns with their start date. If a student takes a break for two or more consecutive terms the Program of Study is reset to align with the current version (when studies are resumed).
