Algebraic Operations

Course: MAT8100M

Students correctly apply the order of operations to correctly evaluate numeric expressions containing decimals and scientific numbers. Students calculate roots, powers and absolute values with and without a calculator. Students differentiate between terms and factors and simplify polynomial expressions using like terms and the distributive property. Students simplify expressions containing integral exponents by applying the exponent rules. Students learn to multiply and divide polynomials, use equivalent fractions to reduce answers, and simplify complex fractions. This module can be taken by itself or it can be combined with other modules.
