Teams from Physical Resources are continuing to work on restoring power to the ACCE Building, which is operating on emergency power today.
All regularly scheduled classes and services in the ACCE Building have been suspended today — if you have received notification from a teacher for a class in ACCE being rescheduled elsewhere in the College today please proceed with that information, otherwise consider that your class is suspended outright for today.
We expect power to be restored in time for tomorrow’s classes and will provide updates.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your attention to this notice.
Please watch for updates on myAC and the College’s social media channels throughout the weekend.
The Algonquin College community is rallying to respond after Friday’s devastating storm and power outage.
In the aftermath of the storm, parts of the College and surrounding neighbourhoods were left without power well into the weekend. An influx of visitors to the campus caused increased demand for food and beverages and long lines began to form at several on-campus locations.
On Sunday, Campus Services will have more culinary and service staff on site to respond to this increased demand, especially at 35th Street Market Café in Residence, where there was substantially more food purchased on Saturday than usual. More staff will also be brought in to work at Tim Horton’s on campus and Starbucks in the Student Commons will also remain open.
As well, the Salons in D Building will be open and available for people to charge their phones and a complimentary coffee station will be set up for visitors to the campus.
Campus Services will be monitoring the situation closely and responding to demand as it arises.
Please be advised that the ACCE building remains without power. All regularly scheduled afternoon classes and activities in ACCE are suspended until Sunday. All other Ottawa Campus classes and activities are operating as scheduled.
Physical Resources crews and Ottawa Hydro continue to work to restore power. Please watch for updates on myAC and the College’s social media channels.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work to restore power and our apologies for the inconvenience.
Please watch for updates on myAC and the College’s social media channels throughout the weekend.
