Algonquin College’s School of Business is proud to announce a partnership agreement with L-SPARK, Canada’s leading Software-as-a-Service (Saas)-focused accelerator.
This partnership will leverage the expertise of both organizations in supporting entrepreneurs from within the College and throughout the Ottawa community.
As stated in the snow-closure note issued yesterday, Algonquin College will reopen today as of 5 p.m. The Ottawa Campus will be ready to resume regularly scheduled activities and classes at that time.
The Pembroke and Perth campuses will reopen tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 14, as there are no scheduled classes or activities this evening.
In consultation with the Algonquin College Executive Team, I want to let you know that we have decided to suspend classes at the College’s campuses in Ottawa, Perth and Pembroke as of 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, February 12. Algonquin College will be closed, with the exception of essential services, until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13.
The College’s policy governing campus closures notes that, “on occasion, unusually severe weather conditions or other emergencies may require a campus to be closed in the interest of safety.”
Environment Canada has declared a winter storm warning for our region, with snowfall amounts of up to 40 centimetres, high winds, blowing snow and “near-zero visibility.” It also notes that localized power outages are possible.
We are committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for our College community and will be evaluating conditions over the next 24 hours. We ask everyone to monitor the College’s social media accounts for updates.
Please exercise caution and patience as you make your way home this afternoon.
With more snow expected this week, our Parking Services team has some helpful campus parking tips.
Please note that overnight parking is only permitted in the Visitor’s Lot and Lot 11 (Residence). If you anticipate having to leave your car overnight, please contact Parking Services at 613.727.4723. x 7187.
Overnight parking is not permitted in Lots 8, 9 and 12.
Please take your time in the parking lots and try to park as straight as possible.
Please be careful not to triple park – it can be challenging to see the difference between rows of cars in snowy weather.
During heavy snowfalls, our Parking Services team can be found in the parking lots offering assistance.
Algonquin College’s campuses are open today (Monday, Feb. 4) and classes remain as scheduled. Please take extra care and travel safely en route to your campus.
The timing of this morning’s snowfall has made snow removal in our Ottawa Campus parking lots a challenge.
By 6 a.m. this morning, the Ottawa Airport had already seen 10 cm of snow, with much of that accumulated in the early morning hours, and continuing to fall.
We are working hard to keep sidewalks and main roads clear. Please take your time in the parking lots today and try to park as straight as possible.
With more snow and freezing rain expected, it is anticipated that some vehicles may need some assistance exiting the lots this afternoon.

As you may have heard, the Ontario government announced earlier today that it will cut domestic tuition at post-secondary institutions by 10 per cent. A Student Choice Initiative will, with some restrictions that are not yet known, also allow our learners to choose which ancillary student fees they want to pay.
OTTAWA — Algonquin College is announcing a groundbreaking new partnership with three other Ontario Colleges.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on Jan. 16, Algonquin College will partner with Northern College, Sault College and Lambton College to create a framework for collaboration in applied education. The agreement will allow the colleges to work together on academic programming and administrative processes to provide new opportunities for learners at these institutions.
Algonquin College is here to offer support to anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected by the tragic bus crash at Westboro Station on Friday, Jan. 11. Our thoughts are with all those involved at this very difficult time. Flags at all our campuses continue to fly at half-mast.
