Algonquin College and The Ottawa Hospital form new partnership

OTTAWA — Algonquin College and The Ottawa Hospital are embarking on a unique partnership in health research, innovation and training. The College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hospital’s research institute to “encourage and facilitate the development of mutually beneficial linkages” in areas such as digital health, clinical trials and biotherapeutics manufacturing. Comic takes kid-centred approach to underscore importance of immunization

OTTAWA, CANADA – Alien invaders descend on a world while defensive forces mobilize to battle the intruders … is this the plot from an upcoming blockbuster movie or a creative approach to science education? These scenes are from a new online comic, Immunity Warriors: Invasion of the Alien Zombies, created to educate elementary school students about the immune system and the role of immunization in defending against illness.

Algonquin College and Shopify announce new program making experiential learning a priority

Ottawa — Algonquin College and Shopify are pleased to announce a partnership that brings students into the future of commerce and design.

Sixty third-year Algonquin College Graphic Design students from the School of Media and Design will be receiving hands-on training in a pilot course that provides experiential learning opportunities at Shopify’s company headquarters. As part of the curriculum, students will partner with local businesses to improve design aspects of their companies. The students will gain expert insight and training from Shopify instructors, who collaborated with College instructors to build a multidisciplinary course.
