Algonquin College set to celebrate one of largest convocation ceremonies in its history

Algonquin College is making final preparations for its Ottawa 2022 Spring Convocation ceremonies, which will include an in-person component for the first time in two years. The 11 ceremonies will take place over four days, commencing June 21, and will mark one of the largest graduation events in the College’s history.

Just over 10,500 graduates are eligible for the ceremonies in Ottawa next week. Ceremonies at Algonquin’s Pembroke and Perth campuses also took place earlier this month. The in-person Ottawa ceremonies will be held at the Canadian Tire Centre, and are open to graduates from Spring and Fall 2021 classes, and Winter 2022 graduates.

“We are excited to offer our learners the option this year of an in-person experience or attending their ceremony virtually. In both cases, our teams have been planning for many months to make this a highly personalized and memorable ceremony for our learners and their loved ones. We are looking forward to an incredible week of celebrations,” said Claude Brulé, President and CEO of Algonquin College.

Given physical distancing will not always be possible, and to ensure the safest environment for all participants, those attending the upcoming Ottawa ceremonies in-person will be required to wear a mask.

2022 Honorary Degrees

A bit more about some our valedictorians:

• Language Institute valedictorian Danilo Furlani Audi Calobrizi is following in his grandfather’s footsteps to become a teacher, and he couldn’t be happier.
• Information and Communications Technology graduate, Kasia Gocal, shares her experience as a Canadian immigrant, how she shaped challenges into experiences, and what being a valedictorian means to her.
• Encouraged to return to school by her two teenaged sons, Karen Spillane is graduating as a valedictorian from the School of Business.
